The Pilot has always been a well-rounded family hauler. For 2023, it keeps that jack-of-all-trades character. A trick second row that can serve as a pair of captain’s chairs for two or a bench for three (the center insert hides in the cargo floor when not in use) may be our favorite feature. That’s available only on Touring and Elite trims.
Or maybe the star is the TrailSport model. Honda introduced a TrailSport trim on last year’s Pilot, but it was mostly for dress. Apart from all-terrain tires, it mainly consisted of styling changes.
This year, it’s a genuine off-roader with higher ride height, skid plates to protect the undercarriage while rock crawling, and a retuned suspension made for the trails.
Every Pilot gets a 3.5-liter V6 making 285 horsepower. Power goes through a new 10-speed automatic transmission to the front wheels (FWD) in its basic form or to an all-wheel-drive (AWD) system that’s standard in the TrailSport and Elite trims, optional elsewhere.
