The retrenched staff of Hindustan Motors/Hindustan Motor Finance Company Ltd and their loved ones customers are ready for a selection on their potential from the DMK government headed by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin.

He also said the CPI leaders have confident them that they will get up the issue with the Chief Minister for a alternative.

On Oct 1, the retrenched staff and their loved ones customers began their indefinite sit-in strike.

The protest was flagged off by CPI MP K. Subbarayan and was wound up late that night time.

In accordance to Srinivasan, Hindustan Motors acquired about 356 acres of agricultural land in 1968 at Tiruvallur for its earthmoving tools division.

Initially Hindustan Motors purchased the land immediately from the homeowners. But it was not able to get the extent it wished and sought the District Collector’s help. Later on the company deposited the land cost with the government treasury and the government transferred the land to the company, Srinivasan said.

At that point of time, the District Collector had confident that the land homeowners will be utilized by the company at its earthmoving tools plant.

Nonetheless, the landowners were being not specified work as promised previously and following protest, Hindustan Motors utilized 82 individuals — mostly the grandsons of the landowners — in the eighties.

In accordance to Srinivasan, the PCA Vehicles plant has about 190 acres of land of which about 150 acres are vacant.

“We want our land back again so that we can do farming and control our people,” Srinivasan said.

“Our land is there. The old operator — C.K. Birla group and new operator Stellantis Group — are also there. The motor vehicle plant is also rolling out Citroen manufacturer autos. Only we are not there. This is not just,” Ismail and Srinivasan had said.
