Extreme E racing starts this weekend, as Nico Rosberg gets used to being the boss

Nico Rosberg is making use of several years of Components A single working experience to a new part as group proprietor in the Serious E electric off-highway collection that commences up in the Saudi Arabian desert this weekend.

The Rosberg X Racing group of Sweden’s triple environment rallycross winner Johan Kristoffersson and Australian rally driver Molly Taylor is one of 9 competing, every with a male and a woman driver.

Two of the other teams are owned by F1 champions — Rosberg’s previous teammate Lewis Hamilton with X44 and Jenson Button’s JBXE, with the latter also driving.

Rosberg claimed he would take a look at the ODYSSEY 21 SUV at some position but, possessing witnessed the 18km Saudi class with its overwhelming fall, was satisfied not to be driving.

“What I love so significantly is how Johan and Molly perform with each other as well, so complete of regard and group collaboration,” he included.

“My teammate (in F1) was my most important enemy in the environment so that group collaboration was like the reverse, how do I make him slower? In this article it is how do we assist every other to grow to be a lot quicker and understand from every other, and that’s so great to see.”

Nine-times environment rally winner Sebastian Loeb, who is driving for Hamilton’s group, claimed his car was performing well on the shakedown.

“No key issues. It’s pretty rough. It’s pretty speedy,” claimed the Frenchman.

Serious E aims to encourage sustainability by racing in remote areas of the environment afflicted by climate transform. Founder Alejandro Agag has named it “the most important experiment at any time witnessed in motorsport.”

The collection transports cars and machines on board the former British mail ship St Helena, which also serves as a floating study laboratory for a group of scientific gurus.

“For me it is the excellent match, my enthusiasm for racing and enthusiasm for sustainability mixed in this one task,” commented Rosberg.

“What we want to do is increase consciousness for the issues that the Earth is dealing with and present that we care. So we are staying on the boat and we also have some of the top environment experts with us.

“We’re possessing panels and discussions and truly studying something. That’s at the heart of this championship, and that’s what I truly love a great deal.”

Saturday sees 4 qualifying time demo periods prior to semi-finals and remaining on Sunday.
