California senators urge Biden to axe ICEs | Automotive Industry News

California’s two US senators are urging President Joe Biden to established a firm date to phase out fossil fuel run passenger motor vehicles as the White Home grapples with how to rewrite vehicle emissions rules slashed underneath previous President Donald Trump, Reuters documented.

In a letter likely to Biden on Monday (22 March), Democratic senators Alex Padilla and Dianne Feinstein referred to as on Biden “to follow California’s lead and established a date by which all new autos and passenger vans sold be zero-emission motor vehicles”. They also urged Biden to restore California’s authority to established clean motor vehicle requirements.

Reuters observed that, final September, California governor Gavin Newsom signed an government buy directing the state’s air sources company to need all new autos and passenger vans sold in California to be zero-emission by 2035.
