Amazon has requested 1,800 entire-electric powered vans from Mercedes-Benz in the on line retailer’s most important motivation to date to reduce the carbon footprint of its shipping functions in Europe.

A greater part of the vans will go into service this year, Amazon claimed on Friday.

Amazon claimed it experienced requested 1,200 of Mercedes-Benz’s substantial eSprinter vans and 600 of the midsize eVitos.

The get is the largest for Mercedes’s electric powered cars to date and includes 800 vans for Germany and five hundred for the U.K.. It is dwarfed, however, by Amazon’s new get for one hundred,000 electric powered shipping vans from Rivian Automotive, a startup it has invested in.

The Mercedes invest in makes it clear Amazon will also request cars from other automakers to clear away greenhouse gases from its shipping fleet.
