The settlement states that NIO and the electricity big will “jointly build and operate battery charging and swapping services”. The strategy is to set up a hundred battery swapping stations in China by 2025, and “start off to build and operate” pilot stations in Europe.

NIO has previously put in over 300 battery swapping stations throughout China.
