New Delhi: The government on Friday stated those with gentle to medium color blindness can now obtain driving licence. The Road Transport and Highways Ministry has issued a notification in this regard for needed amendments in demanded types of motor car or truck norms.
“The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has issued a notification for amendment to the Sort one and Sort 1A of the Central Motor Motor vehicles (CMV) Rules, 1989 for enabling the citizens with gentle to medium color blindness in getting the driving licence…,” the ministry stated in a assertion.
The MoRTH has been having many measures to permit ‘divyangjan’ citizens to avail transportation-relevant solutions and particularly relating to the getting of the driving licence, it stated.
The advisories, the assertion stated, have been issued in this regard to aid driving licence to ‘divyangjan’ citizens. Further, an advisory for persons with monocular eyesight has also been issued, it stated.
“The ministry received representations that the color blind citizens are not equipped to have the driving licence created as constraints via the necessities in the declaration about bodily health and fitness (Sort one) or the clinical certificate (Sort 1A) makes it difficult,” the assertion stated.
